FEATURED SPEAKER:

Bob Swerlick , MD

Professor Emeritus of Dermatology
Emory University School of Medicine

Dr. Robert A. Swerlick is a dermatologist in Atlanta, Georgia, affiliated with Emory University Hospital and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He served as Chair of Dermatology at Emory University School of Medicine for more than 15 years. His clinical expertise includes the treatment of psoriasis, among other dermatologic conditions.

Dr. Swerlick’s research focuses on bringing structured data collection into everyday dermatology practice as a way to support outcomes research and improve patient care. His work centers on developing data standards and data capture tools that fit into busy clinical workflows while still producing reliable data. That data can then be used to measure clinical outcomes, support performance improvement efforts, and create greater value in healthcare.

Dr. Swerlick earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1979 and completed his dermatology residency at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1983. He then completed a fellowship in Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology at the National Institutes of Health in 1988. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in both Dermatology and Clinical & Laboratory Dermatological Immunology.

His honors include the Emory School of Medicine Dean’s Clinical Scholar Award (2001–2004), the Dermatology Excellence in Teaching Award (2005), and recognition in Best Doctors in America (2009). He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Investigative Dermatology, the Georgia Society of Dermatologists, and the Atlanta Dermatologic Association.
