Poster competition information:
The Oregon Dermatology Society invites medical students to submit a poster for the 2026 ODS Poster Competition at our Annual Meeting. Registration for the ODS Annual Meeting is free for medical students.
Judges:
We are pleased to announce an exceptional panel of judges for the 2026 competition — an exciting opportunity for medical students with an interest in dermatology to connect with leaders in residency training and medical education:
- Markus Boos, MD, PhD — Director, Dermatology Residency Program, University of Washington
- Angela Jiang, MD — Dermatology Clerkship Director, Oregon Health & Science University
- Sarah Shangraw, MD — Director, Frontier Dermatology Residency Program
Poster Guidelines:
- Posters may present original research or case presentations.
- Posters should incorporate narrative material, photographs, charts, and/or diagrams, and must include photos and supporting data or discussion.
- Poster size: 36 × 48 inches. Participants are responsible for their own printing; the ODS will not print or reimburse poster costs.
- Previously published material may not be submitted. Material submitted for publication but not yet published by the conference date is acceptable.
- Posters previously presented at other dermatology meetings are permitted.
Eligibility & Sponsorship:
- Participants must be sponsored by a current member of the Oregon Dermatology Society who is attending the Annual Meeting. Please include your ODS sponsor's name in your cover letter.
- Those sponsoring medical students who are presenting posters will receive complimentary meeting registration. However, those receiving free registration may only sponsor one student. Please let Katie Hobbs know if you are having any trouble finding a sponsors and the ODS board is available to assist with finding a sponsor.
- Medical students from outside the Pacific Northwest are welcome to participate but are not eligible to receive prizes.
How to Apply:
Submit an abstract of fewer than 600 words organized into the following sections:
- Introduction
- Methods
- Results
- Discussion
Include a cover letter with your name, institution, and the name of your ODS sponsor. Submissions will be evaluated on novelty of content and scientific merit.
Abstract Deadline: August 1, 2026

Prizes & Awards
- Cash prizes of $500 will be awarded to each of the top three posters. Awards will be presented at the closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon, September 20.
- Top-scoring posters will be offered a short presentation slot at the Annual Meeting.
Short talk awardees will be notified by August 14, 2026.
