LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Develop an understanding of the definition of ‘Skin of Color’ (SOC)

  • Identify how treatment of these conditions might differ in patients with SOC

  • Describe the treatment approach of melasma, acne, seborrheic dermatitis, and pseudofolliculitis barbae.  

  • Recognize the important aspects of clinical decision making

  • Develop an understanding of how to mitigate cognitive bias in the diagnostic process

  • Describe the way specific cognitive biases can contribute to misdiagnosis
